The Tuli Block, Botswana
Engage Conservation Africa operates out of the western part of the world-famous Tuli block. Western Tuli is situated west of the Platjan border post within a protected area covering 180,000 hectares, stretching 90km across from the Northern Tuli game reserve in the east to Zanzibar border post in the west. The area is well renowned for its large population of free-roaming elephants and general plains game. Lion, African wild dog, cheetah, leopard, hyena, and other predator species are also found in the area. The rugged semi-arid landscape features large rocky outcrops and hills broken up by mopane trees, bushveld, and seasonal streams. The great Limpopo River runs along the southern border of the ranch allowing for regular sightings of hippo, Nile crocodile, and bird species such as the African fish eagle.
Location: The ranch is easily accessible by road or air from Gaborone or South Africa. Tuli west has it’s own runway for smaller planes or helicopters as well as a large airport nearby. Platjan border post is only 16km to the east and the drive time from Johannesburg OR Tambo airport is only 5.5 hours
